Well Woman & Reproductive Care

A well woman examination is an exam offered to women to review elements of their reproductive health. It is recommended once a year for women over the age of 21 or women who are sexually active. It is important in identifying potential early health problems.

The most important tests included in this are the breast exam, pelvic exam, and the Pap smear. If the Pap smear is normal, you may only have to have one completed every 3 years. If there are concerns about Sexually Transmitted Diseases, blood tests or swabs may be collected. This exam is crucial in early detection of certain cancers, especially of the breast and cervix.

Mammograms are recommended for women over 40 or those who have symptoms or increased risk of developing breast cancer. Mammograms are the most important exam shown to detect early breast cancer in women, even before there are any symptoms.
